My Approach

Hello & Welcome. As a psychotherapist, my approach is a dynamic one because I don’t think humans are static; I believe we are always moving, shifting and changing, even when we feel stuck. I see many of our painful or restricting patterns as originating in childhood and often existing outside of our awareness. This early-life (“attachment-based”) perspective allows me an in-depth approach that I adapt to each client. I see therapy as a process full of curiosity, caring and even challenges and I trust in this process. My goal is to create the safety and attunement required for you to explore the areas of life that are difficult to navigate on your own. In this safe space, my hope is you can begin learning new ways of seeing, thinking and feeling and remember your agency in this life. I am always honored to be even a small part of someone’s journey and am always open to feedback along the way. I am sensitive to the unique needs of different individuals and groups including those identifying as neurodivergent and 2SLGBTQI + while understanding it is an ongoing process of learning. I practice a trauma-informed culturally sensitive approach as well. Some of the issues I often work with are early life relational trauma; chronic feelings of shame or self-esteem issues; panic/anxiety or feelings of overwhelm; “obsessive” or ruminating tendencies and difficulty finding balance or agency in life. I find it helps to get intimately familiar with the client’s personal experience so that we can understand certain triggers and challenging areas and map out some potential paths forward. I find it most important to simply create space to deepen into the client’s emotional experience, bringing attention to unprocessed thoughts and feelings

Your Therapy Experience

I possess an undergraduate degree from Vancouver Island University in Engligh/Biology and 3 years of coursework in Linguistics/Psychology from Concordia University. I received my Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University in Vancouver, BC. All of these experiences have enriched my understanding of myself, others and the world in different ways, creating a mosaic of knowledge that has been very helpful to draw from. My three years of experience at McDowall Integrative Psychology and Healthcare has provided me with a breadth of experience and a wonderful introduction to the field. I welcome further inquiries about my educational background.

More About Me

I have always been an artistic and spiritually-oriented person and this orientation comes out in most of the things I do. It has always been challenging for me to put myself in a box or identity that might come from outside of me, and I imagine many can resonate with this feeling. I enjoy writing, painting, spending time outdoors, and also love witnessing the many skills and talents of others; perhaps this is part of my draw to this field. I enjoy body-based, somatic activities like mindfulness and intuitive movement. I am sensitive to how global and societal concerns are connected to our personal experiences and value paying attention to how these intersect.

Take the Next Step

Therapy is ultimately about you and your needs, comfort and goals. I want to start the process in the way where you feel confident in my ability to help you. Feel free to book a consult so that you can talk to me about your goals, ask me questions about my approach or the therapy process. I am flexible and can try and meet you where you’re at so that therapy works with your schedule and is enjoyable for you.
