Burnout Recovery Support & Free Guide
Exhausted no matter how much you rest? Burnout is more than tiredness — and it doesn't fix itself. Get our free burnout recovery guide, or work with a registered therapist in person or virtually across Ontario.

What Is Burnout?
Burnout is a state of emotional exhaustion — physical, emotional, and mental depletion caused by prolonged chronic stress — most often from work, caregiving, or carrying too much for too long. It builds slowly, which is why most people don't notice until they're deep in it.
If I've learned anything as an integrative team, it's that you have to look at all aspects in order to heal: the body, the mind, and the patterns that got you here. The mind without the body is incomplete — and burnout recovery needs both.
- Early signs: chronic tiredness, trouble switching off, dreading the workday, growing cynicism, small tasks feeling heavy
- Deeper burnout: emotional numbness, detachment from work and people, brain fog, getting sick more often, nothing feels worth the effort

How Burnout Progresses
Burnout builds in stages. Knowing where you are shapes what recovery needs to look like.
Exhaustion
Energy runs out faster than it refills. Rest helps less and less, and you're running on willpower and caffeine.
- Tired even after sleeping
- Relying on stimulants to function
- Weekends no longer recharge you
Cynicism & Detachment
You start pulling away — from work, colleagues, even people you love. Caring feels expensive.
- Growing negativity about work
- Emotional distance & numbness
- “What's the point” thinking
Reduced Performance
Focus, memory, and output decline no matter how hard you push — which fuels more stress and shame.
- Brain fog & forgetfulness
- Simple tasks taking twice as long
- Confidence eroding at work
How We Help You Recover
Our integrative team treats burnout from both sides — the psychological patterns that drive over-functioning, and the physical depletion that keeps you flat. That's the whole-person difference.

Burnout Questions, Answered
Is burnout the same as depression?+
They overlap but aren't identical. Burnout is tied to chronic stress — usually work-related — and often improves when the stressor changes; depression persists across life areas. A therapist can help you tell which you're dealing with, and treat both if needed.
How long does burnout recovery take?+
It varies. Mild burnout may ease in weeks with the right changes, while deeper burnout can take months of deliberate recovery. The guide covers how to gauge where you are, and therapy can accelerate the process significantly.
Why isn't rest fixing my burnout?+
Because burnout isn't just an energy debt — it's driven by patterns (perfectionism, boundaries, over-functioning) and physical depletion (sleep, stress hormones, nutrition). Recovery has to address the causes, not just the symptom.
Is the burnout guide really free?+
Yes — enter your email and the guide is sent to your inbox instantly. No cost, no obligation.
Do I need therapy for burnout?+
Not always — but if burnout keeps returning, or it's affecting your sleep, mood, or relationships, working with a therapist speeds recovery and prevents relapse. Our naturopathic team can also address the physical side.
How do I start counselling?+
Call our Intake Department at (416) 485-5555 ext. 1, or fill out the web form on our site. We offer in-person sessions in Toronto, Brampton, and Mississauga, and virtual sessions across Ontario.
Is burnout support covered by insurance?+
Most extended health plans cover services from registered psychotherapists and psychologists, and many cover naturopathic care. We provide receipts you can submit to your insurer.
What are the main burnout symptoms to watch for?+
The core burnout symptoms are emotional exhaustion, cynicism and detachment from work, and reduced performance. Physical burnout symptoms often include disrupted sleep, headaches, frequent illness, and brain fog. If several of these have lasted more than a few weeks, it's worth getting support.
Do you treat workplace burnout and compassion fatigue?+
Yes. We work with job burnout across professions — healthcare, education, tech, law, and social services — as well as compassion fatigue in caregivers and parental burnout. Treatment combines stress management skills, boundary work, and naturopathic recovery for the physical depletion.
